I will always love Martha! I mean isn't it amazing that if you throw a great party or have an impeccably clean kitchen someone will say, "that's so Martha." Will you do me a favor? If you make a yummy gluten free carrot cake or organize your pantry with your label maker will you say, "that's so Lissa?" That would make me feel SO cool! :)
JUST KIDDING.... sort of.... hee hee!
Anyway, back to the reason for this post. On page 163 of the April issue of Martha Stewart Living are some great cleaning tips for small appliances.
For the toaster:
"a. unplug the toaster, and use a thin, soft brush to remove crumbs stuck inside. b. take out the crumb tray, discard crumbs, and wipe it clean with a damp cloth. c. If there's no removable tray, turn the toaster upside down, and shake gently.
** cotton brush with braided wire handle $3, gracioushome.com"
I'm totally buying one!
And might I suggest that you spray a bit of glass cleaner on a rag and polish that baby up until it "shines like the top of the Chrysler building." (if you can tell me where that quote came from you get 10 points.)

"For the microwave. a. loosen caked-on residue by heating 1 cup of water in a bowl for three minutes on high. (to get rid of orders, add 1/2 cup lemon juice); let sit with the door closed for five minutes. b. Wipe the interior with a sponge dipped in warm water and dishwashing liquid. Rinse well. c. Clean the control panel with a barely damp cloth."
There are other great tips for cleaning your stove and oven as well. You may want to grab yourself the April issue before the May one arrives!
And is there anyone else out there that is begging their husband for an ipad for the soul reason of getting the Martha Stewart app? no? just me? hmm....

That's a great idea for cleaning the toaster. Maybe I'll buy a baby bottle brush instead and try it!

Great tips. Toasters drive me mad!!
iPad is totally on my wish list. I'm kind-of an app junkie.
I have always loved Martha! I wish I could thank her in person for teaching me YEARS ago how to fold a fitted sheet. :) And she does make cleaning look kinda fun doesn't she?
Love the microwave tip. Thanks!
I have loved Martha for as long as I can remember, my family calls me Martha secretly I love it. I had a brush with Martha I used to work at the Airport about ten years ago she passed our counter on the way to baggage claim I said hey theres Martha, I pretened to check our mail box to follow her, we exchange smiles but that was it I did not have the nerve to say anything to her. She would be so impressed with your mad Martha skills.

I had THREE "Humble Pie" posts to catch up on after spending the weekend in Seattle with my baby sis!! TOO fun! :)
I LOVE cleaning tips...I got some FUN cleaning products at the Trader Joe's by my sis's house. Is that the saddest thing?? I was THRILLED to get new cleaning products to bring home! ha ha I KNOW you can appreciate that excitement!! AND the lavender satchels for the dryer...I cannot wait to wash my sheets tomorrow. Again, I KNOW you can understand my affection for clean sheets! :)

Thank you! I've enjoyed your cleaning tips - your kitchen is always sparkly. Do you use Meyers cleaners on the countertops?
