the garbage collector

I'm a confessed recovering perfectionist. I really enjoy a good dose of O.C.D. A perfect day for me could possibly, just maybe include really clean closets.... But God didn't want me to get carried away. So he gave me a little garbage collector. I have to be diligent about going through her room to remove old candy wrappers, fruit, fries, broken toys (we still have a prince eric who is missing a hand), ripped pieces of paper... you get the idea. So you can imagine my dismay when Emma came running (and I mean running with excitement) off the bus with a HUGE smile on her face yelling, "MOM!!! LOOK AT THIS CUTE UMBRELLA MY FRIEND GAVE ME TODAY!!!!"

and again I say....

UGH!

Oh, she's too cute!! I have three little collectors of my own and I'm always having to do the stealthy room purge when they aren't at home.

Ahhh! That's too funny! What a sweetheart, though. She's one who will see beauty in all kinds of unexpected and unlikely places. What a treasure she is (even if all of her goodies are not so great!) :)

ha ha! what is it with kids wanting to keep broken toys?!

I totally understand. She just sees the beauty in things that are broken. Much like God sees the beauty in us, despite our brokenness, warts, missing pieces, etc. How wonderful that she can do that, especially at her young age! Now, teaching her to know when to throw those broken things away, another problem altogether. I understand that one, too! Blessings, Becky

You are a better mommy than I am.

I would lose my mind. But all that talk of perfectly clean and organized closets got me all giddy.

I just found you from Bushel and a Peck! I love your style! We have similar taste! I too have a little garbage collector and it drives me crazy! I do not like clutter either, the more I read about you the more I think we share some dna! I too have had a very bad year, working through it but it is not easy. I am amazed at your strength and your faith, you are a doll! I will be back!

...oh yes...I can laugh when it is someone else, but I know what you mean.
You know when you go into places and they have racks filled with pamphlets/advertisments/information booklets?...every time we passed one, each and every one would come home with us...this started before she could even read!!! It's not from my gene pool!!

Ha! She is darling though!!!

I'm a bit of a neat freak myself, and my 2 oldest kiddos are pretty tidy themselves...but alas, my littlest one is a disaster on wheels...she thinks dumping everything in sight out is the way to have fun and play! Yikes, it's been tough for me :)
