I am completely in love with these letters from Anthropologie but my family says that they will not go with my decor and that I will tire of them easily. What do you think? It's my favorite thing I've seen out for Christmas this year! I would spell dream out just like this and either hang it from garland or hang it as a word on my tree.
This is my garland for my tree from Red Ticking. I think those letters would look really cute with the garland.
But this is what the rest of my decorations look like...
so....
will it go????
should I change the way I decorate a little bit?
(fingers crossed)
But you MUST be HONEST!

Hmmm...love the letters!...but not sure they would go with what you have {although maybe I'm NOT the BEST decorator}...BUT I do know of some letters you may like that I just purchased...some metal ones from Tracey's shop...French Larkspur...hope all is well...and so glad to know others are doing some x-mas "shopping" already!
I love the letters, and could see them in my house, lol! I think they would look cute on your garland, but think they might really stand out against the lovely light color scheme in your home. Is there any way that you could buy them, hang them for an afternoon, and then decide if they look right?
Christmas decorations NEVER have to go hand in hand with your usual decor! :) I promise I would never have a seven foot hunter green plant chilling in my living room at any other time of the year! Go for it girlie, you will smile every time you look at it!!
Listen to your heart...not other people! Go with what you like...BE YOU!!!! ( Hey, I'm having a GIVE A WAY...COME SEE :D )
Years ago I read that if you decorate your home with things you love, they will go together because you love them (even if they don't exactly "go" together). This is still my favorite decorating tip (and would explain why I have a hand-me-down leopard chair that doesn't match anything else, yet totally works because of its history). So I say yes, surround yourself with things you love and they will work! :)
Why not?! I love those letters :)
I'm thinking you can mix just about anything (well most things)together and make it look good at Christmas time. I think if you love them you will find a great way to incorporate them...but that's just what I think...I'm no expert.
So cool -- I think you can pull it off!

Hi Lissa, I have been really into color and have painted my house with mustard yellow, moss green, reds and browns. Crazy, I know. You have inspired me to tone things down a bit and I am going to try to go with some neutral colors. That being said, I think it is very brave of you to go for these Christmas letters cause I know your style is very white and crisp. I think they represent the quirky side of you and I love that you are thinking of letting that side show! Is this too presumptuous of me considering I don't know you very well? It is just a the feeling I got when I first saw the photo of the letters. I think they are great and would definitely go with your decor. How tired can you get of them when you only bring them out once a year?:-) Go for it brave girl!:-)
Oh lissa, lissa, lissa...
Really?
Yes, they're cute. But are they you? Not so sure. But, do what you want. Its your money, and you're next garage sale. (hee hee)
XOXO
Me.
Those letters are even cuter in person! I was thinking about picking up a J when I saw them. :) I say do whatever makes you happy!
xo
Its christmas do what u love!
My whole decorating mantra is "surround yourself with what you love". If you do that - then that is what they'll all have in common - YOUR PERSONAL SIGNATURE! Anyone can walk into a store and buy all matchy-matchy because it goes.
But - if you pick things up along the way because you love it, then you just brought a piece of you into your space where you can look at it!
You'll find that perfect place for those letters you love so much. I just know it! xoxoxo
They are so sweet! A little pop of color for christmas is very merry and cherry! I just love your neutral colors, but if it's Christmas and in your heart, go for it! And if you get em' and don't like em' exchange them or give them to friend who would! Good luck!
I love the letters, but they don't seem to fit in with the rest of your home. They also don't fit in with the rest of your holiday decorations, but if you love them, maybe it's time for a change.
I say live on the edge a little and go for it :) Besides, what doesn't go with white, right?! I think they are super cute and would look great in your beautiful home!
:) T
absolutely!
nothing wrong with a dash of color...
perfect.
xo
You could make it work. I think if you are loving them right now, then get them. You might change your mind on them later...but, that's okay! Go for it!
xo,
Adrienne
I have seen those letters and I swooned over them.
I didn't buy them though.
I don't know if you should buy them or not. I think you have to listen to your heart. You have great taste and you'll make the right choice!
you silly girlie...
absolutely
they are whimsical , just like you !
i think the decorating during the holidays is a great time to introduce something a little different.
They do seem to scream happy in pretty color and I see white in each letter so take that! I think with your great taste you can find a way to work them in nicely. I just do! I say go for it.
I think decorating is all about going with what you like. I love them! Go for it!
I think their awesome!!!! I think they color's 'pop'.
I say, "if you like them, want them, then buy them." Honestly, I love decorating, but if I saw them in your home I would immediately rave about them, because I like them too. Who cares if they don't fit in perfectly. It is your home...I say, "go with them."
I LOVE them...but of course you knew I would:) I was just in Anthropologie today and they had all their white stuff mixed in with all the colorful. So you really can't go wrong:)
I love them! and i think they will go and if you love Anthro you have to have them. I love the idea of having them spell out something you can have all year around!
If you love them and REALLY want them then I say get them. I say that they will go with your decor if you use color sparingly. Choose one or two colors from the letters and maybe use them in a pillow or two, a vase... If you sprinkle color very sparingly, it will work and you won't get tired of them. Your decor is neutral, thereby a little color will work fine. If you don't like the color, you can always save the letters for your girls or let them use them in their rooms. My 2 cents :)
I love them Lissa and think you should go for it.
will you miss them if they are not there?
how much will they make you smile when you see them if you do get them?
i saw those too...and also thought the same thing...they don't go...but from what i am gathering about you, you are a dream girl. and i am thinking having those hanging in your home will give way to that contented feeling within.
that's my humble opinion.
Well, I don't really think they go together. But perhaps you could used them in the family room and alter those decorations a bit?
decorate with what you love for christmas! if you love those colorful little letters then go for it. add a splash of christmas cheer! whenever you look at them you are sure to smile. :)
Hmmmmm, tough tough tough. That would really look cute and stand out with all the white stuff you have. If you really really love it then be bold and go for it. However knowing my Lissa lisa---I do not know---I say no and yes!!
i actually was trying to think of a way to make these. i received the anthro catalog recently, and was drooling over the sweater-letters...sometimes i tell myself "you could make that, don't pay some outrageous price for it" unfortunately, i don't always "finish"
i get your feeling of wanting things to match/flow/blend and be cohesive. i feel antsy if things don't "go", but sometimes i just must LET GO
sorry, can't give you an answer.
maybe you could find some sweaters to cut up and make your own version of these letters in your own color scheme :)
p.s.
your frye's--15R or 12 R (shaft height)
i'm short 5ft.2in. should i go for 12 or 15??
i am STUCK ON THIS!!! HELP ME!!!
No they won't go with your pretty white theme. What about a smaller tree with a different decor altogether? I do a couple small trees around the house trying out my new themes. Some work, some don't!
I say go for it. If you love them you will always love them. Christmas is a time to have fun with decorating. Especially when you are an all white sorta girl like me or you :)
Everything goes with white!! I think they are adorable!
Well, I always say that if you really love something, you can make it work. Maybe you could use them in the kitchen or bathroom rather than with your main decor. I always struggle each season about whether to use red in my Christmas decor. It's kinda of fun to use color around the holidays! After reading all the blogs 'swooning' over Anthropologie, I finally went this weekend for the first time. It is a pretty awesome store, and it's probably a good thing it is not very close! I don't remember seeing the letters, but there was so much to see...and touch...and explore.

I think they are darling, but they don't seem very "you." I was envisioning whites, mercury glass, and silver for your decor. (Where did I get that? No clue.) Anyway... they are pretty cute. I think it depends on WHERE you end up putting them. Because my main area is a very specific decor- yet I have some Swedish inspired red and white decor in a separate room in the front of the house. Am I making sense here?
Also. I have the entire alpahbet on my tree. I have these little chartreuse painted letters with clear glitter on them. I adore them.
I have the solution! how about not on your tree but handing on a sting across your headboard or foot of your bed! add the whimsy somewhere in your home but not the tree.... and if you get them and decide after one season they are not you... regift! hey they come from Anthro who wouldn't want a to receive them for any occassion!!
win win all around :)
can't wait to see what you decide,
xo,
LuLu
get them! absolutely! the holidays are the perfect time to try new colors and mix up your style -- go for it!
and I love them!
I think they are darling and think they would be great in your home. If your colors are mainly white I think they'd look great. I can't wait to see where you put them. Get em' for sure :O)
If you love it have it. I think decor is a personal thing - not everything has to go - it is good to have these little character pieces. I say go for it :)
I love them...I think you should go for it. What do good interior designers always say (not that I'm one of them!ha!).....go with what you LOVE in your home and it will work.
:)

I like them! If they dont match your decor they will stand out- in a good way! I would stick them in some garland, and hang it along the stair rail, or in a door way, or along a mantel.
I think you should spell out the words BELIEVE :) I hope you dont mind me checking out your blog, but I totally relate to your decorating style and am new to the whole blogging world. Plus your words of inspiration have maybe changed me a little for the better! I mustve linked to your blog from a friend of a friend, but I'm glad I did! Thanks Lissa!
I have that same exact garland! I think it's so pretty. Ok, now I think the letters are really cool, but I'm not 100% sure they would look the best with the garland. That is just my opinion. I do think you should get them cause they are tooooo cute to pass up, and besides, you love them, that's all that matters. You will find a place to use them.
Love these, and I know you will make them fit your decor perfectly...maybe in your bedroom, or dangling from your chandelier...you work miracles!
I love the letters, and I think you should get them. They would look great mixed in with white Christmas decorations. They would stand out and be a pop of color. You could use them anywhere in your house. You could hang them in your kitchen or attach them to a ribbon and tie across a headboard or footboard. They would be fun.
I'd TOTALLY buy them!! You could find a small "surprise" little nooke to place them and when people see them they will love it!
I think they are darling!
i'm on my way over to Anthro right now. (my husband says thanks) :)

Seriously, why not go for it? Your decor is very neutral and light so how does it not go? Those letters are a splash of fun and color. Trust your sense of style.
I love them and I love your blog! I am new to blogging...was curious as to where you bought your cutting board with clear bell jar ob top...love it! Your photos are great too..do you use photoshop?
Hope to hear from you,
Kristen
